Read the article and look at that schematic! It would basically be a dualshock that CAN be, but doesn't have to be, broken apart to be used for motion controls. It could also be used exactly like the regular Dualshock. It would replace the Dualshock 3 like the Dualshock 3 replaced the Sixaxis, by improving upon it. I actually think they will eventually take the Dualshock 3 off the market in favor of this. That would standardize this controller and encourage developers to use the advanced...
Niche titles like this can only be helped by being released when they don't have to go against big titles. I know if it was between this and Uncharted 2, I would be getting the latter first.
Even if the video and the item are real, this is obviously black market. Sony hasn't even announced the thing yet, they are not going to release it to be sold by STREET VENDORS IN THE PHILIPPINES. It was probably stolen from a warehouse and so the price reflects only what the seller thinks people will pay.
I still expect that the slim will either be cheaper than the "fat" or will be accompanied by a price drop. Whatever some of us want to believe, Sony is smarter at ...
...Let's make sure we grossly overstate the importance of it like was done with MGS:Rising (e.g. "360 is dead, it has NO exclusives anymore").
Most of those Natal features you listed are just software and some have even been done on PSEye. PSEye does have a "four capsule microphone array" not just one mic, and is also capable of ambient noise suppression and acoustic source localization (see Wikipedia). The two cameras thing is overstated since they are so close together, they do not give stereoscopic view, it's just that one of them sees in IR for the depth sensor part. Natal is more advanced than the PSEye, but let's ...
I assume you mean mid-game. I make a point to always finish the round, even if my team is losing horribly and it's not even fun.
The word "Napalm" makes me think it could. Haven't played the Flash & Thunder maps, but they sound really cool.
If it came out this year, it would be so rushed that it wouldn't be worth buying any of the software anyway. On the other hand, a lot of people would buy it no matter what.
I think you're both being a little extreme. Natal is definitely more advanced tech than PSEye, but they do both fill the same role and perform the same basic function. Natal can do more then the PSEye, though because it does track depth.
Godmars, the Ricochet demo did show the woman headbutting a ball at one point, and i'm pretty sure she leaned forward for that, hence depth. Besides, have you seen that video of Richard Marks speaking at Stanford in 2004? That was exactly th...
So, if it's because they need to sell more copies to make a profit, why would they switch to a system that has just over half as many units in homes as the Wii? Sure some resources will be diverted, but the Wii is too much of a factor. And before people bring up attach rates let me say that casual games sell to casual gamers, and when (or if) casual gamers switch to a 360, they won't buy any more games than they did for their Wii.
Push it over the top for me Bioware!
Actually, i am probably going to get this no matter what. Never played a Bioware game and am looking forward to it.
Another big fish reeled in. Seems everybody is in love with PS3.
It does say both, after all.
The actual electronics wouldn't have to be smaller. As it stands right now, the PS3 is a premium product at a premium price. What Sony could do is release, alongside the current model, a new, cheaper model targeted toward the "entry level consumer" that has a few features removed or downgraded (e.g. smaller hard-drive and no wi-fi). This could crack open a new segment of the market for them without having to wait for a straight price-cut to become viable.
Also, that Ricochet demo WAS MADE SPECIFICALLY FOR NATAL and is certainly not using much of the 360's resources, but it also has an input lag. Watch the video closely. You have to watch closely because they mask the delay by having her constantly quickly flailing all of her limbs around.
Here's an allegorical short story:
A woman gets an engagement ring from her boyfriend and says "What a beautiful diamond! This is the best gift anyone has ever given me!" The next day she shows it to her friend who says "Umm... I don't think that's a real diamond." The woman replies "Yes, it is." The friend takes a closer look and says "No, that's actually a cubic zirconia, here's the proof." The woman says "Well, i'm sure he wil...
You do realize that just saying "lol ok" doesn't refute someone's argument, right?
Fact is it's true. Take total units sold and divide that by the number of months the system has been available and PS3 is outpacing the 360 by almost 36,000 units per month (XBox360: 30.87M units / 44 months, PS3: 22.86M units / 31 months). The 360 did have quite a lead worldwide over the holidays, but other than that, they are pretty much selling the same worldwide right now. If Sony ...
If it does work as in-game soundtrack, that would be awesome, and i would be a little jealous of that as a PS3-only owner. I mean, i have access to last.fm via ps3's web browser now, but if i could listen to new music while playing a game instead of just sitting on my couch, i might use it.
They have always been rude every time i've been there, not to mention the outrageous trade-in/used-game prices.
Besides, i already got it pre-ordered from Amazon at a cheaper price ($3 off),free shipping (though i'll have to wait for it), no sales tax, and if the price goes cheaper before launch, i automatically get the lowest price. Plus the pre-order bonus treasure map.
Yeah, you're probably right. I don't have a 360, so don't pay that close attention to the release dates, but if there's a good separation, that would help. I do think there would still be some people who hold off on buying one because they're still enjoying the other. It may not be a huge number, but there would be some delayed sales.
They would be coexisting in one unit. If that schematic is representative of the final design, it could still be used exactly like a Dualshock 3, but it would have the advanced motion controls too.
